Arthur R. Courchene

Arthur R. Courchene, June 25,2017 of Pepperell  Dad loved all things about aviation, and collected literature, and built models of his favorite planes. He was a true enthusiast, and would often talk about how much he loved his planes for hours on end.It was in the United States Air Force where he learned the skills that would serve him so well later in life - becoming top in his field as a senior precision sheet metal mechanic. One of his proudest accomplishments was working on the Space Shuttle for NASA and Boeing Aircraft at Helio Precision in Bedford.  He created a model of one of the helicopters, which was presented to the Smithsonian, and is still there today.

His all  time favorite things in life were more personal and low-key. He treasured gatherings with the family, especially on his favorite holiday, Thanksgiving.  Moms lavish dinners were cherished each year.

He loved going to the camp he shared with friends David and Bob, enjoying fishing in the quiet and relaxing lakes and streams of Pittsburg, NH. He simply loved just being at home, either enjoying a Red Sox or Patriots game on TV, or watching a Nascar Race. He also loved being in the back woods of his property chopping down firewood and driving his beloved old beat up red jeep to haul lumber and brush. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his little Buddy, Grandson Tristan Arthur, with whom he shared a remarkable bond. Watching them reading books together or playing cars on the living room floor was something wonderful to behold.  It was like watching him transport back to his own youth. They were definitely two peas in a pod.

He is survived  by his wife of 67 years  Betty M. (Gilmore) Courchene of Pepperell his children Keith A.  of Concord, Kevin J. of Lowell and Rachel E.
