Charlotte Eldridge (Carter) Blood

Charlotte Eldridge (Carter) Blood, 94, of Pepperell peacefully passed away in her home on August 23, 2019, surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born in Pepperell June 21, 1925, daughter of Dr. Raymond Boynton Carter DMD and Natalie Eldridge Carter. She was a sister to the late David W. Carter and the late Boynton R. Carter. She attended Pepperell schools and was a graduate of Pepperell High School Class of 1943. Charlotte was married to the late John Harland Blood who was a 5th generation farmer of Blood Farm on Mason Street.  Charlotte worked alongside her husband, haying fields, producing firewood, poultry, swine, beef cattle, sweet corn, rye, straw, vegetable and flower gardens.  Charlotte was a member of the Massachusetts Farm Bureau and the Pepperell Community Church. She loved her family and found joy in participating or following her children and grandchildren’s passions and adventure in life. She enjoyed all animals, reading, woodworking, making handmade crafts, cooking and playing rummy. She was especially known for her homemade Butter Almond Crunch Candy that she made to share with family and friends during the Holidays.

She is survived by her three sons Robert E. Blood and his wife Brenda of West Groton, John C. Blood and his wife Kim, Timothy C. Blood, and daughter Nancy A. Gardner and her husband David, all of Pepperell. Seven grandchildren Matthew, Adam, Allison, Timothy Jr., Sarah, David, Rebekah, and two great-grandchildren Jack and Scarlett Blood.  Nephews Raymond and James Carter. Nieces Donna Marvelli, Diane B. Caudill, and Elizabeth B. Bentley.  She is also survived by her cat Peter and many cows.

Charlotte and her family would like to sincerely thank the vast array of individuals who cared for her over the years. Especially Christine Robbins and Darlene Cooney whom were with her on her last days. Many individuals provided daily personal care to Charlotte with compassion and great skill. They made it possible for Charlotte to remain in her home with her family. Her life reflected her strong and determined attitude she demonstrated daily.

Charlotte was a Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother but will always be remembered by all generations with love and joy as NANA ROO.

BLOOD – Of Pepperell August 23, 2019 Charlotte E. Blood relatives and friends will be received by the family on Friday, September 13, 2019,  5 – 8 PM at the  McGaffigan Family Funeral Home  37 Main St. (Rte. 113)  Pepperell, MA. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at noon Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Pepperell Association Cemetery Park Street.
