Hazel Louise Jones, 87, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, after succumbing to Alzheimer’s disease. Born July 29, 1930 in Elyria OH, a daughter of the late Paul M and Helen A Waterman.   Hazel was a long time resident of Pepperell, MA and a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She graduated from the Utica School of Commerce in Utica, NY then moved to Washington, DC to work at the Pentagon.  She resigned from the Pentagon after marrying her husband, Leland A. Jones (predeceased).  Hazel's love of travel and adventure began as they were stationed in Japan and Germany among other places while Lee was enlisted in the Army.

Hazel moved to Pepperell in 1971 and was passionate about working with children.  She worked at the Family Tree Child Care Center and she provided childcare for several families over the years including many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Hazel taught Primary Sunday school at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and her work with children touched many local families.

In her mid-fifties, Hazel returned to school and earned an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Mt. Wachusett Community College.  Hazel also began music lessons on the piano and guitar in her early seventies.  Her travel took her many places, including Alaska where she went dog sledding and Costa Rica, where in her mid-seventies she was adventurous enough to zip line.

Hazel is survived by her four children and their spouses, Suzanne and Kenneth Bell, of Nashua NH, David and Daedra Jones, of Littleton, MA, Lori Farnsworth and her fiancé, Robert Foss, of Lancaster, MA and Scott and Ann Jones, of Pepperell, MA.  Stewart Jones and Ralph Virkler of Utica, NY.  Her nine grandsons, Kenny and Corey Bell, Justin, Ryan, Chad and Timothy Farnsworth, Andrew Jones, Cameron and Brendon Jones.  Her great grandchildren, Sophia and Ellie Mae Bell, Elizabeth Jones, Calissa, Caleb and Elizabeth Bell.  She will also be missed by her beloved dog Sheba. She  was also the sister of the late Ruth Waterman and Dorothy Gligor
