John Richard "Dick" Norstrom

John R. “ Dick” Norstrom died Friday September 29, 2017 in Ayer. He was born in Groton on October 7, 1931, son of the late Charles O. and Luella (Bebbe) Norstrom.  A lifelong resident of Groton, he grew up on the family farm, Pinecrest Orchard. After high school, Dick enlisted in the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon his return from the service, he was employed with the town of Groton for thirty years, and retired as the Highway Superintendent. He also served with the Groton Fire Department as a Deputy Chief, the Groton Police Department as a patrolman, and as Tree Warden.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Croteau of Groton, his children John R. Norstrom and wife Nancy of Lakeland, FL, Linda J. Norstrom and husband Christopher Danker of Groton, and Cynthia J. Johnson and husband Wade of Lakeland, FL, his step-children Michael E. Croteau and wife Maureen of Townsend, Lisa Woods of Union, CA., Kathleen Osbourne of Ashby, and Todd Croteau and wife Lynette of Berwick, ME, seventeen grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.   He was the husband of the late Loretta (Rust) Norstrom who died in 1993. He was also the brother of Dana Norstrom and the late Willard Norstrom, Charlotte Peterson and Helen Babin and Robert Norstrom.

Visiting Hrs. Wed 5-8 PM at the McGAFFIGAN Funeral Home 37 Main St. (Rte113) Pepperell. A Funeral Home service will be held Thursday 11 AM relatives and friends kindly invited.
