Sister Claire Bergeron (Sr. Claire Celine) SUSC died on September 21 at Mary Immaculate Nursing/Restorative Center, Lawrence at the age of 90. Sr. Claire was born in Sanford, Maine, the daughter of the late Evariste and Aurore (Ouellette) Bergeron. Her brothers Robert, Maurice and Richard and sisters Lucille Roy, Estelle Gagne, Gertrude Berard, Sr. Bertha Bergeron, OSU, and Therese Bergeron predeceased her. Her sister Rachel Belanger and many nieces and nephews survive her.
Sister Claire was educated in Sanford, Maine and entered the Holy Union Sisters on September 8, 1948. Throughout her religious life, she served the community in food service in convents in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She joined the retirement community at St. Mary’s Villa, Lowell, MA in 1984 where she was in charge of the food services. At St. Mary’s Villa she also served as organist for the community. In 2006 she retired to Mary Immaculate Residence in Lawrence, MA. Recently ill health necessitated a move to the Nursing/Restorative Center at Mary Immaculate. This month Sr. Claire celebrated seventy years as a Holy Union Sister.
BERGERON – Sister Claire SUSC. September 21, 2018. All funeral arrangements will be held on September 27 at St. William Church, 1351 Main Street, Tewksbury, MA. The wake is at 9:45 followed by the Prayer Vigil at 10:15 and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover.
