Sister Pauline Marie Dufour, SUSC (Sr. Joseph Paul) died at the age of 93 at Mary Immaculate Nursing/Restorative Center, Lawrence, MA. The daughter of the late Emile and Sylvia (Potvin) Dufour, Sr. Pauline Marie was born in Lawrence. Her twin brother Paul survives her. Her sisters Germaine, Marie Ange, Fernande, Bernadette, Lucille and her brothers Hector and Jean pre-deceased her. Many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews survive her.

A graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Lawrence, Sr. Pauline Marie entered the Holy Union Sisters in Fall River, MA on August 15, 1945. She attended Sacred Heart School of Education, Fall River and received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Catholic Teachers College, Providence, RI. Sr. Pauline Marie took several courses in math and science as part of her professional updating.

Sr. Pauline Marie taught in elementary schools in Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. She served as secretary and treasurer at the former Sacred Hearts Academy, Fall River. In 1975 she joined the Holy Union Generalate Community in Rome where she was the congregation treasurer for thirteen years. In 1988, she returned to the United States and was the treasurer and bookkeeper at St. Clare High School, Roslindale, MA and later was the administrative assistant to the principal. After she retired, she continued to volunteer at St. Clare’s and in the Holy Union Sisters’ Finance Office in Milton, MA. She moved to Mary Immaculate Residence, Lawrence in 2007. Recently ill health forced her to move to the Nursing/Restorative Center.

All funeral arrangements will take place at St. William Church, 1351 Main St. Tewksbury, MA on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. A visitation will begin at 10 AM, followed by a Prayer Vigil at 10:30, and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 80 Corbett Street, Andover, MA. Arrangements are by McGaffigan Funeral Home, Pepperell, MA.
