Spencer Deming (JR) Eddy

Spencer Deming Eddy Jr. 82 passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Boston, August 19, 1935, to the late Spencer Deming Eddy Sr. and  Barbara (Ballou) Eddy. He was a graduate of Newton High School in 1954 and Boston University in 1962, where he met his bride Barbara of 55 years. They raised 4 beautiful daughters in their home on Park St. Spencer was an avid lover of books and devoured novels, especially favoring historical fiction. He and his wife Barbara enjoyed vacationing in the summers at their home in Maine and escaping to Florida during the long cold winter months. He was a lifelong collector of coins and stamps and could be found on any given Sunday selling, trading and bartering at many of the local shows. Mr. Eddy had also been an English and History teacher as well as a librarian and media specialist at Bromfield Academy in Harvard, MA prior to his retirement.

He leaves behind his wife Barbara (Swanback) Eddy of Pepperell, 3 daughters Kirsten Forwood and her husband Michael of Fitchburg MA, Martha West of Acton and Barbara Margosiak and her husband John of Ashby MA, 5 grandchildren Spencer, Hannah and Kenneth West III, Ryley Forwood and Henry Margosiak, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is pre-deceased by his daughter Karin who passed in 2003. He also leaves behind his brother Putnum McDowell of Dedham, MA and his brother Latimer Eddy of Southwick, MA. He was also the brother of the late Robert McDowell.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December  16,  at 12 o'clock noon at the McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, followed by a burial at the Pepperell Association Cemetery.
