Terry Myers Smith

Terry M. Smith, “Bamp”, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, son, coach and pastor has gone on to glory to meet his Master - Jesus Christ. To say he will be sorely missed by many is an understatement that cannot be comprehended. Living life to the fullest, he epitomized the scripture from James 1:27 "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." He fully and completely fulfilled this directive to, not only his wife, Joanne, and their children and grandchildren, but to many others over the 42+ years of serving the Lord.

Bamp was a devoted son to M. Eloise Gardenier and Leroy J. Gardenier, both deceased, with whom he resided until their passings and Peter L. Smith of Richland, Washington. Father of Jessica Lawrence of Townsend, MA, Jeffrey R. Smith and his wife, Mary of Salem, MA; Samuel E. Smith and his wife, Amy Smith of Westminster, MA; Joshua T. Smith and his wife, Rudelyn of Litchfield, NH; Sarah J. Yancy, with whom he resided, and Molly A. Smith of Holyoke.  Grandchildren, David O’Neill, Reagan O’Neill, Kerrin O’Neill, Shane Smith, Isaiah Smith, Logan Smith, Sienna Smith, Jude Smith, Julianna Smith, Jacob Smith and Dominic Yancy, Adan Yancy, Aliza Yancy with whom he resided. He also leaves his wife and best friend of 41 years, Joanne Smith, along with his siblings, Thomas Smith and his ex-wife Sylvia Sage Smith, Holly Bedard, and husband Luc; Timothy Smith and his wife, Susan, Jonathan Smith and Heather Smith He was predeceased by his brother, Peter L. Smith, Jr.  Many nieces and nephews will miss him especially his namesake, Terry Yaffee. He will be mostly missed by The Open Door Fellowship, a non-denominational Christian group in Pepperell that met in his home for 37+ years and whom he devotedly and passionately pastored since 2000 when Rev. LeRoy Gardenier passed away.

Terry spent many years of his life volunteering his time in the community to youth sports, most recently coaching his grandsons in TAP and Pepperell Youth Baseball. The pure enjoyment of this for him knew no bounds.

Terry’s extreme passion for his family and friends permeated his life; cantankerous and confrontational could be words all who knew him could agree on. He stood and fought for what he believed in and we thank him for that. His quest for truth always took him back to the scriptures, and his true passion in life was knowing God’s word. A voracious reader and writer, his years of study most recently bore fruit in a ministry/website called Elisha’s Outcast Eagles, an “outside the camp” Christian publication reporting on biblical prophecy – its history, current events, and eminent fulfillment, otherwise known as “prophistory”, a term coined by Terry. His great desire was that it would reach people hungering and thirsting for the truth. You can find it at www.elishasoutcasteagles.com.
