Walter P.Petreyko of Pepperell, died Saturday morning June 10, 2017 at Westford House. Walter was born February 1, 1928, son of the late Harry and Katherine (Szmyd) Petreyko. A resident of the South End of Boston in his early years, Walter was a graduate of English High School, Class of 1944. Following high school, Walter was a renowned athlete, who enjoyed participating with acrobatics groups. Walter served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan. Following his service, Walter attended Merrimack College, and received his degree in Engineering. Walter’s career in engineering spanned over 25 years. He was employed at EGG, RCA-Burlington, Wang, and Transitron. From 1980 to 2005, Walter and his wife Marilyn owned and operated Imagine Antiques & Custom Framing in Groton.  Walter was also late member of Lions Club of Groton.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn A. McGrath of Pepperell, his children Karen Phipps of Sagamore Beach, MA, Paul Petreyko of Manhattan, NY, Carol Gallagher of Derry, NH, Daniel Petreyko of Leominster, MA, Michael Petreyko of Haverhill, MA, Thomas McGrath and Sean McGrath of Lowell, MA, his brother Daniel Petreyko of California, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wed. June 14th at 10AM at Our Lady of Grace Parish worshipping at St. Joseph’s Church at 28 Tarbell St. Pepperell, MA. Visiting hours will be held Tue. June 13, 6-8 PM at the McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rt. 113) Pepperell.
