It is with sadness that the family of Anthony M. Bento announces his passing on October 30, 2025, just days before his 73rd birthday. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on November 3, 1952, Tony was the beloved son of the late Antonio M. Bento and Beatrice (Chaves) Bento.
Tony is survived by his devoted wife, Dianna (Castiglia) Bento, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage this month. He was the father of Alicia (Bento) Kenny and Jennifer Bento Eckhart and her husband Jayson, and the grandfather of Ella and Monroe, who brought endless joy and light into his life. He also leaves behind his sister Elaine Bento Campbell and her husband John Campbell, and his brother Dennis Bento. He was predeceased by his brother Manuel Lincoln Bento.
Tony had many passions that reflected his creativity and curiosity. A lifelong lover of music, he enjoyed numerous concerts and live performances. He played in a band with close high school friends called Silverwind, finding joy in performing and sharing music with others. He was also an avid Beatles fan whose home was rarely without their music playing in the background. Among his favorite memories was an epic cross country road trip with his best friends. Tony also enjoyed camping adventures with his wife and friends, complete with massive bonfires and, as friends fondly recall, the occasional “drunken watermelon” escapades.
Tony’s love of tinkering with electronics led to a lifelong career in technology. He began his professional journey with Digital Equipment Corporation, which later became part of Compaq and then Hewlett-Packard (HP). In his retirement he continued his passion by volunteering for Pepperell Community Media to record local town events.
Outside of work, Tony enjoyed cooking and especially baking, always ready to share his creations with family and friends. His garden was another source of pride and peace.
There will not be any services. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause Tony was extremely passionate about.
