Betty-Lou (Jones) Chambers

Betty-Lou (Jones) Chambers, 79, a lifelong resident of Pepperell, died unexpectedly on July 26, 2026, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center following complications from recent surgery. She was the beloved wife of the late Chester (Butch) E. Chambers, Jr., with whom she shared many wonderful years before his passing in 2017.

Born in Melrose, MA on April 16, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Delbert A. Jones and Helen M. (Davis) Jones. After graduating from North Middlesex Regional High School, Betty attended Cosmetology School and later earned credentials in Vocational Education from Fitchburg State College. She went on to work as a skilled hairdresser and dedicated instructor at the Lowell Academy of Hairdressing.

Betty will always be remembered for her loving, gentle, and caring nature. She was a talented quilter and enjoyed spending time with quilting and weaving friends at the Townsend Senior Center and Hannah Dustin Quilters’ Guild. Betty loved and adored her family and friends. She cherished the trips she took to Oswego, New York and camping in Lebanon, Maine, with Butch. She loved exploring the New Hampshire and Maine Seacoast and looked forward to lunch outings with friends and family.

She is survived by her devoted son, Christopher Chambers and his wife Kelly of Townsend, MA. She is also survived by long-time friends Fran and Ray Parkhurst, Sharon Santy, Dolly Miller; loving sisters-in law and many loving nieces, nephews, quilting friends, and extended family members.

She was predeceased by her husband, Chet; three older sisters, Nancy Gagnon (Edward Gagnon), Donna Munn (Richard A. Munn II), and Margaret Hebert; brother in-law Gary Chambers and sisters-in law Ellen Lawrence and Kathleen Chambers.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to American Cancer Society.
