Carolyn “Carol” Clapp, 70, a lifelong resident of Groton, passed away January 13, 2017. She was born in MaGee,Mississippi, February 18, 1946, to the late Thomas and Margaret (Simpson) Hall and was the wife of the late Howard P. Clapp who died 2013.
When her children entered elementary school, she started as a cook at the former Montrath Hospital in Groton. Later being employed at the Groton School until her retirement.
She loved camping, cookouts, and spending time with her family. Her greatest love was her late husband of 48 years and her daughters and grandchildren. Carol had three daughters, Kimberly Ladd and her husband Roland of Brooks, ME, Melissa Rice and husband Robert of Greenville, NH, and Georgette Clapp of Shirley, MA, as well as eight grandchildren, Michael Young, Joseph Gonsalves, Cody Commiskey, Shasta Rice, Robert Rice, Ryan Rice, Cheyanne Clapp, Shelby Harkins, and Edward Harkins. Two great grandchildren, Jayanna Rice and Everly Young, several nieces and nephews, many close personal friends and her beloved dog Roddy.
