Catherine G. Riga

Catherine G. Riga, nicknamed Jill, age 91, of Townsend, MA, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. She was born in Woburn, MA on June 21, 1931. She came from a large Italian Catholic family of 3 sisters and 6 brothers. She is survived by her loving children, Charles Simone Jr, Catherine Simone, Robert Simone, Susan Silva, and Leonard Simone, their partners, and precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Riga and son Joseph Simone.

Catherine was a kind and giving person. She had an outgoing personality and liked helping people. Before she retired she was a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years. She also worked in the hospitality business as a manager and owner of her own catering business.

Her favorite passion was cooking and was well known for her delicious food. She loved entertaining in her home with family and friends. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays and cooking a huge assortment of Italian dishes and desserts.

She delighted in meeting people and charming them with her smile and good humor. She was a big fan of Hallmark movies and she loved to read romance novels especially ones about cowboys.

Whenever she saw a cardinal, she thought that an angel was on her shoulder watching over her. She had many in her home as an expression of her spiritual belief.

There will be a private service, immediate family only, provided by McGaffigan Funeral Home.
