Cecile "Sis" Stella McWatters

Cecile "Sis" Stella (Forest) McWatters, 87 years old, a longtime resident of Shirley, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Acton. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Samuel J. McWatters, in 2003. She is survived by her brother Donatien Forest and his wife Janina (Saxon) of Shirley, brother J. Walter Forest and his wife Ernestine (Kidder) of Ayer, brother Stephen Forest of Leominster, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Roland Forest, and sisters Rita Desrosiers, Theresa Gagne, and Estelle Oyler.

Cecile was born May 7, 1926 in Holyoke, MA, daughter of the late Frank A. and Melinda (Colard) Forest. She attended St. Anthony's Elementary School in Shirley and Ayer High School in Ayer. She worked at George Frost Co. and later at Samson Cordage/Ocean Systems of Shirley for many years, retiring in 1986. In her position at Samson Cordage she was an expert splicer in the manufacture of specialty rope for the shipping industry, the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Coast Guard. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her husband and going to the casinos in Connecticut. She especially loved Las Vegas which she visited many times over the years, up until her last visit in 2012.

Cecile's family would like to thank the staff at Apple Valley Center of Ayer and Life Care Center of Acton for the special care they gave to her over the last several months.
