Charles Walter Tully

Charles Walter Tully died peacefully November 13, 2013, surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease and a brief acute illness.

The first of seven children, Charlie was born on April 15, 1939 to George E. And the late June (Lund) Tully. He attended the Union School until 8th grade and then graduated from Lowell High School in 1957.

At an early age, Charlie began working on the family farm, Tully Farm, which was started by his great-grandfather in 1872. He worked before and after school every day, milking cows, picking potatoes and strawberries and tending to other farm animals. He was also active in the 4-H Club. After graduating high school, Charlie assumed responsibility, alongside his father, for daily operations of the farm. He was a 60-Year Member of Dunstable Grange #31 and was active with the Middlesex County Farm Bureau for many years. Charlie devoted his life to Tully Farm and his family, most of whom live in Dunstable and stop by the farm regularly to work or visit.

Charlie leaves his wife Ruth (Robinson), with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on November 24, 2013, his father George E. Tully of Dunstable and six children: George and Donna (Bowman) Tully of Leominster; Louise and John Murphy, Charles Jr and Jennifer (Fletcher) Tully, Ann and Mark Millett, all of Dunstable; Henry Tully and Barbara and Michael Saunders, of Nashua, NH.

He is also survived by six brothers and sisters: David and Mabel Tully, Virginia and Richard Holt, George Jr and Susan Tully, Linda and Calvin Chase, Kenneth and Denise Tully, all of Dunstable; and William Tully of Lowell. And a very special aunt and uncle, Ruth (Tully) and Alvin Choate of Tyngsboro. Charlie also leaves very dear lifelong friends Roberta and Hugh McGovern of Dunstable who introduced he and Ruthie 51 years ago.

Charlie will be missed by his grandchildren: Brian and Michael Murphy; Kristina, Erin, Steven and Jacob Tully; Alexis and Zachary Millett; of Dunstable; Christopher and Jeffrey Tully of Pepperell; Kyle Tully and Madison and Michael Saunders of Nashua; Nicholas Millett of Grafton; Deena, DJ and Devin Richardt of Leominster. Many friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews will miss him as well.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Arbors of Bedford and the staff at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack for the incredible care and support they gave to Charlie and the whole family.
