Claire L. McLaughlin, 85, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after a lengthy illness. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts on December 19, 1929, she was the daughter of Arthur L. and Honorine L. Rheaume.
She was a graduate of Saint Jean Baptiste High School in Lynn. After almost 20 years of employment at H&R Block she retired as a tax preparation professional. Claire loved to travel and enjoyed her trips to Israel, Ireland and Germany.
As a 10-year resident of Pepperell, Massachusetts, Claire was a frequent visitor and enjoyed the companionship of many friends at the Pepperell Senior Center. She also enjoyed her visits to the woman's bible study group at Pepperell Christian Fellowship. Prior to her disabilities, she attended the Community Church of Pepperell and Christ Church United of Dracut.
Claire is survived and will be deeply missed by her son and his wife Randy Smith and Nancy Retchin-Smith of Pepperell, her son Jeffrey A. Smith of Georgetown, South Carolina, and her son Arthur McLaughlin of Alton, New Hampshire. Claire was the loving grandmother of Eric W. Smith and Daniel A. Smith. Her newest and greatest joy in her world, great-granddaughter Olivia Rose Smith, daughter of Daniel and Kelly Smith. She will also be missed by her two best pals, her miniature dachshunds Jack and Bailey... they will continue looking out the window, waiting for her return.
Claire was predeceased by three children, Leslie L. Nash, Daniel A. Smith and Evan E. Smith.
