Cynthia Ago

Cynthia Catherine Ago, affectionately known as Cindy, was born on October 26, 1940, in Somerville, Massachusetts, to James and Eva Ago. She was a proud graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1958.

Cindy built a long and fulfilling career in Human Resources, working for Digital Equipment Corporation and later Polaroid. It was during her years at Digital that she met William Addleman, her partner and the love of her life for 50 years. Her career brought her much more than professional accomplishments—it brought adventure, wonderful memories, and a life shared with Bill. From living over the water in Malibu to spending time on her beloved Cape Cod, Cindy embraced every opportunity to experience life. Provincetown and Truro became among her very favorite places.

After retiring, Cindy discovered new passions and new ways to connect with others. She enjoyed working with the Kids Club craft program at Michaels, but it was ballroom dancing that became the great love of her later years. Dancing brought Cindy enormous happiness, cherished friendships, and a community that became family. She especially treasured her Arthur Murray Natick family, including her ballroom instructor and dear friend, Daniel Koch.

Cindy is survived by her sister, Janice Horne; nephew Brian Horne and his wife, Lisa; and her great-niece, Grace, the shining star of Cindy’s dance world. She is also survived by her cousins Sandra Mazoyer, and Linda Stanford and her husband, Frank, as well as her extended nieces Jeanine Kovacic and husband John, Tara, and Keir Stanford, to whom she was affectionately known as their beloved “Auntie Mame.”

Cindy was welcomed into her next life by her late brother-in-law, James Horne; Sandra’s late husband, Edward Mazoyer; and her longtime friend, Ronnie O’Neil.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 18, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main Street (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cindy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Cindy will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her zest for life, her love of dance, and, most of all, for the love and joy she brought to the people fortunate enough to know her.

Her dance may have ended, but the music she brought into the lives of others will continue to play.
