David Maurice Poutry, age 86, of Harvard, MA, passed away on May 10, 2025 after a brief illness.
He was the beloved husband of the late Janice M. (Crossman) Poutry of Lancaster, MA who passed away at an early age in 2002.
David’s memory lives on as a devoted father of Martin D. Poutry and his wife Lauri of Ayer, MA, grandchildren Julianna M. Poutry of Fort Worth, TX and Andrew M. Poutry of Cambridge, MA. He was the loving brother of Peggy Basset of Cocoa, FL, Donald W. Poutry and his wife Linda of Pepperell, MA and Dale Poutry and her partner along with many nieces and nephews. He has also had a significant other for a number of years, Phyllis Yelle, of Fitchburg, who has helped him through many challenges that come with being an elderly person.
David was predeceased by his parents, Peter David and Anna M. (Bulger) Poutry.
He served in the Army based in Fort Knox, Kentucky after high school. David received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bentley University and was a registered agent for the IRS.
He was a longtime member and past President of the Ayer, Harvard & Shirley Rotary Club.
His love for the game of golf led to the development and his partnership in the Red Tail Golf course on the former military base, Devens.
Visiting hours for David will be held in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St., (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Friday, May 16th from 5 – 8 pm. A funeral home service will held on Saturday, May 17th at 10 am. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery, Harvard.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Ayer, Harvard, Shirley & Devens Rotary Club.
