Dennis O. Sawyer

Dennis was born on September 2, 1947 to Oliver and Mary Sawyer in Chelsea, Massachusetts. In his youth, Dennis enjoyed flying model airplanes and community boating on the Charles River with his dad. 

After graduating from Burlington High School, Dennis went on to start his 40 plus year career in aviation. Dennis had a passion for building things from scratch and restoring all things mechanical to better than new condition. Twenty years into his career, Dennis started his own business, Sawyer Aircraft and Motorsports, based out of the Nashua Airport. He was also employed by Red Bull Air Racing from 2006-2014 where he worked as the Chief Technician for Mike Mangold, Matt Hall, and, best of all, Mike Goulian.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Gaelyn McQuillian Sawyer, his three step children; Garret Smith of Dennis, MA, Riley Robbins and her husband Ben of Milford, NH, Patrick Smith and his wife Brittney of Chapin, SC; as well as his grandchildren Declyn, Ava, and Sutter. He was predeceased by his father, Oliver Sawyer, and his mother, Mary Smith. 

Visiting hours will be held in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St., (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Friday, September 15^th from 5 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Inn at Fairview Memory Care at 203 Lowell Road, Hudson, New Hampshire 03051.
