Dorothy May (Cummings) Hackett, 101 years of a beautiful life, passed away peacefully on June 3rd. Dorothy was born in Nashua, NH on May 1, 1925 to Edith Virgin & Richard W. Cummings. She graduated from Elm Street School in 1944. Dorothy’s one dream in life was to live to be 100 years old. She fulfilled her dream and beyond living to 101 years of age.
Dorothy is survived by her 3 daughters, Cassandra Oinonen and her husband Bill, Nancy McDonald and her husband Tom, Laura Hackett and her longtime partner Joe Hahnl and son-in-law Carl Shattuck. She is also survived by 13 amazing grandchildren, 27 wonderful Great grandchildren, 9 precious Great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Roger H. (Putt) Hackett in 1991, 3 daughters Linda M. Shattuck, Lois A. Adams and her longtime partner Peter Blanchard, Sally R. Shank and her husband Kenny Shank. She was also predeceased by her sisters Joan Chapman and Eleanor Cummings, brothers Richard Cummings and Arthur Cummings and her grandmother Ella Mortlock.
Dorothy & Roger raised 6 daughters in a loving home on Franklin Street in Pepperell, MA where they lived for many years. She made her final move to Rindge NH, where she peacefully lived out her remaining years.
Dorothy was a homemaker for many years, and her home cooking was amazing. She loved making breakfast every morning including her amazing homemade donuts, lunch and dinner every day along with being a great baker. Dot loved dancing and was always dressed beautifully. She loved her jewelry, broaches along with her matching shoes and pocketbooks. Dorothy taught Sunday School along with her late husband at Chapel Hill Methodist church in Pepperell, MA. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her 6 daughters and worked at the Shattuck Street School cafeteria for 5 years. Dot also worked at Suzy’s Donuts which then became the Family Restaurant in Pepperell MA.
Our beloved mom, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother will be in our hearts always and forever.
