George "Dennis" Canty

George "Dennis" Canty Jr. passed away November 12th, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by his loved ones, Pete, Kristen, Sheila, and Cheryl, who did an extraordinary job caring for him the last six months.
Dennis was born in Wakefield, MA, February 12, 1950, son of George D. "Judd" Canty and the late Barbara "Bobbe" (Hurkett) Canty who died in May of 2013. He was educated in Wakefield and was a 1968 graduate of Wakefield High School and he was a resident of Pepperell for over 30 years.

He had been employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Civil Engineer for 44 years and took great pride in his work on Mill Street and the Covered Bridge in Pepperell.

Dennis was an avid outdoorsman; he loved fishing, bird watching, and found great solitude in nature. He lived life to the fullest, from his early days hanging out on the "Wall" at Moulton Park to the beach days with the boys at Old Orchard beach, as well as his ski days in North Conway, Sunday River, and Sugarloaf, ME. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 104 in Wakefield.

He is survived by his father George "Judd" Canty of Palm Coast, FL, daughter Kristen Canty of Tyngsboro, son Peter Canty of Lowell, ex-wife and confidant Sheila (Thibodeau) Canty, his girlfriend of 5 years Cheryl Kapourelakos, his brothers, Richard of San Francisco, CA, Stephen of Jacksonville, FL, and Bruce of South Windsor, CT, their wives, two nephews and six nieces.

A very special thanks to Nashoba Hospice Care; Nurses Melissa and Renee and Home Health Aid Mary who made his last days comfortable.
