George A. Hewitt

George A. Hewitt died Friday, January 17, 2014, at The Highlands in Fitchburg. He was born in St. Albans, Vermont, February 28, 1927, son of the late George A. and Cora (Steen) Hewitt. A veteran of WW II where he served in the United States Navy. Employed in the flooring industry for his working years he owned and operated George Hewitt and Son Flooring and Carpentry. He was a resident of Pepperell for over 40 years and he was an active member of the community. He was a longtime member of Lions Club International where served as past President, as well as in other capacities. He was also a member of the American Legion Lawrence Gay Post in Groton.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Jacqueline A. (Mayou) Hewitt of Pepperell, three children George "Tooky" Hewitt Jr. of Townsend, Dennis Hewitt of West Townsend, and Jodi Goss of Dunstable, and was father of the late John Hewitt. He is also survived by his stepchildren Ronald Garland of Chambersburg, PA, Debbie Fullington of Sierra Vista, AZ, and his three sisters Judith, Unis, and Carolyn and the late Margaret, Helen, and Shirley. He was also the grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
