It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gerald (Gerry) A. O’Sullivan, 79, of Bourne, MA on July 13, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving wife and daughters after a courageous, years-long battle with dementia.
Gerry was born in Ayer, MA on February 24, 1946, son of the late Patrick and Alice (Ouelette) O’Sullivan. He spent his early years in West Groton, MA, was a long-time resident of Nashua, NH, and later settled in Bourne, MA.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years, Carol (Tedesco) O’Sullivan. He was a devoted father to Karen (O’Sullivan) Vadney and her husband Timothy of Merrimack, NH, and Kristen (O’Sullivan) Gyorda and her husband Peter of North Andover, MA. He was a cherished grandfather to Timothy Jr. (and his fiancée Jordan), Kaitlyn, Bryan, and Benjamin. He is predeceased by his brothers John and Peter and is fondly remembered by his surviving siblings, Paul O’Sullivan and his wife Jill, of Bolton, MA and Patricia (Waddington) Hallet and her husband James of Niantic, CT, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Gerry grew up in West Groton, MA where he forged lifelong friendships. A proud 1964 graduate of Groton High School, he was a talented athlete in both baseball and basketball. He continued his education at Northeastern University, earning both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. His professional career was focused primarily in technology, where he thrived as a sales executive. In retirement, Gerry found joy in landscaping golf courses and driving for Habilitation Assistance Corporation, always staying active and engaged.
Gerry cherished time at the beach with his family and many close friends. He was a constant presence at his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events, always their biggest fan. He and Carol also enjoyed their spare time vacationing and cruising the Caribbean with friends, creating lasting memories.
A Celebration of Life in memory of Gerry will be held on Saturday, October 18th, 2025 at 1 PM at Our Lady of Grace worshiping at St. James Church, 13 St. James Ave., Groton, MA 01450.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Family Support Center in Gerry’s honor.
