PEPPERELL- James R. Pillsbury, age 95, passed away Monday,
October 26, 2015, at home surrounded by his family.He was the husband of the late Muriel E. (Ramsey) Pillsbury who passed in 2010 after 70 years of marriage. He was born in Pepperell, Massachusetts December 30,1919, son of Leo A. and Catherine (McGrath) Pillsbury and had been a lifelong resident. He had been employed at the former St. Regis Paper Company, James River and Pepperell Paper for over 50 years.
He was a member of the Paper Workers International # 552.
James was a former member of the Pepperell Fire Department,
serving as a Lieutenant and Treasurer. He was a proud veteran
of WW II, serving in the United States Navy.
He spent his leisure time as an owner and trainer of Standardbred horses, racing throughout New England. James earned the title of Horseman, which he truly loved.
He is survived by his sons Robert E. and wife Barbara of East Brookfield, MA and Dade City, FL, James R. Jr. and wife Barbara of Escondido, CA, Charles of DeLeon Springs, FL, and Timothy of Pepperell, MA. Two daughters, Shirley Clark of Laconia, NH, Betty Pillsbury of Fitchburg, MA and his sister Gertrude Hartnett of Pepperell. He was also father of the late Carl J. Pillsbury.
He leaves 11 loving grandchildren; Robert Pillsbury Jr., Christine
Bryant, Michael Pillsbury, Joan Petruzzi, Patrick Pillsbury, David
Pillsbury, Theodore Dunlap, Tracie Clark, Katie Kazanjian,
Nadine Leger and Ali-Rae Clark and 26 great grandchildren. The family extends a special Thank you to his niece Chrissy Robbins for the wonderful care and comfort she gave him on a daily basis.
