Jane Hodgman
Carrubba
February 24, 1943 – April 10, 2026
McGaffigan Family Funeral Home
5:00 - 8:00 pm (Eastern time)
Jane Hodgman Carrubba, 83, a long-time resident of Pepperell, MA and later Hollis, NH passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, with family by her side at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.
Jane was born to the late Richard and Virginia Hodgman and grew up in the Arlington/Reading, MA area. She moved to Pepperell, MA in 1972, where she lived for more than 35 years and raised her family. Jane cherished her friendships formed over the years within the close-knit neighborhood and the surrounding community and found joy in giving back whenever possible. She worked in Pepperell at the James River Paper Company for several years before working at Pepperell’s Town Hall in the Treasurer/Collector's Office for 26 years, retiring in 2023 just before her 80th birthday. Continuing to work helped give her purpose through her later years, as she enjoyed the people she worked with and the challenges of the job.
Her world revolved around her kids and grandkids, but also countless laughs and memories were made over the years with long-time friends Donna Tessier and Ellie Hay and her life-long childhood friend Jane Fulton. She loved all things that exercised the mind and was willing to try anything. Jane enjoyed visiting museums and educational exhibits, attending theater and live shows, and listening to music. At home, she loved spending time with her cat, working on puzzles, and engaging in various crafting projects, especially sewing and knitting. She was very active and social through her retirement years - learning the game of Mahjong, participating in Book Club and senior fitness classes, outings with her lady friends, and of course completing the daily Wordle.
Jane was predeceased by her husband Joseph and her sister Lea.
She is survived by her son Jason (Mary), her son Jared (Emily), and her daughter Jill (Jay); six grandchildren, Jack, Mason, Jaiden, James, Colton and Eden; her brother Len (Judy); and her niece Erica (Steve), and nephew Neil (Laura).
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main Street, Pepperell, MA on Friday, May 1st from 5 – 8 PM. A private graveside service will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Jane Carrubba’s memory to Kitty Angels or the Humane Society for Greater Nashua.
