Joanne M. Johnston, 65, of Pepperell, MA, born February 21, 1960, in Lowell, MA, passed away on July 17, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous second battle with cancer. She attended Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Westford, MA. She worked at Spinners Package store and Murray Printing in Forge Village in her earlier years.
Joanne was a dedicated postal worker for 30 years. When she was not working, she spent her time with family, friends and at the beach, which was her true passion. She was very upbeat, enjoying dinners with her friends from work. She was a very enthusiastic and caring grandmother. Her sense of humor was infectious, spreading laughter to everyone around her. She was a woman who was courageous, strong-willed and had a contagious personality. If you were her friend, you were considered family. She was the kind of person who was always there and willing to help.
Joanne was the daughter of the late Barbara J. Currier and Joseph R. O’Hare. She is survived by her brothers, Kevin O’Hare, Kenneth O’Hare, Jeffrey Currier, Jeff O’Hare and the late Stephen O’Hare and Timothy O’Hare; her sister Jodie Moyes and her husband Stewart; her sons Kenneth Mickel, his daughter Jazzmen Mickel, his wife Nancy Collins and their children Koby Mickel and Shay-Lynn Keen; Christopher Mickel, his wife Tammi and their children Alexis Mickel and Jace Mickel; Brandon Johnston, his girlfriend Caily Nenonen and her son Logan; great grandchildren Rynlee and Rhett Rothwell; many nieces and nephews; extended relatives and friends.
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours at the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St., (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Thursday, July 31st from 4 - 7 pm.
