John Francis Pillsbury, Jr., born September 26, 1969 passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024. John is the eldest son of John Pillsbury and Patricia (Drake) Traversi. He was predeceased by his grandparents: Irving and Marion Pillsbury, Roger and Jean Drake; and several special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
John is survived by his brothers Timothy Pillsbury and Chad Pillsbury (Stephanie), as well as his beloved nephews Camden Boeing and Colton Pillsbury. John was loved and cherished by many generations of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. John was a special part of his Shared Living family: Julie and Dwight McKenzie, and their children Kingston, Liam, and Romeo, of Oakham, MA.
John was educated at Lighthouse School, Chelmsford, MA, Mt. Hope School, Burlington, MA, and Brook School, Ashby, MA. John was employed at Lawrence Academy, Gamma Foundations, Groton School, Donelan’s Market, and delivered newspapers to local family and friends.
John volunteered as a Manager for Groton-Dunstable Hockey (1995-1999) and was lovingly given the title of “Coachie”.
John was a dedicated Boy Scout in Troop 4, Pepperell, MA. He looked forward to marching with his troop in the Memorial Day Parade each year, and took special pride in carrying the American flag.
John loved fishing, swimming, playing UNO, Monopoly, Bingo, and bowling with his dad. He enjoyed cheering on his nephews and friends at their sporting events. John loved all animals! He loved caring for the animals, making sure they were watered, fed, and most of all loved by someone. John had many pets over the years, and most recently became a Bee-Keeper. He proudly displayed a queen cage in his room.
John will be remembered as a beautiful soul with a vast capacity for loving, offering nonjudgmental compassion, and steadfast loyalty. John welcomed everyday with a smile and a twinkle in his beautiful blues.

Visiting hours will be held in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Tuesday, May 14th from 4 - 8 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Funeral services and burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pepperell, will be private.
