Leo Richard Lamy

PEPPERELL - Leo Richard Lamy of Pepperell, a loving husband, father and grandfather (Pépère) passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, at Leominster Hospital with his family by his side. 

Leo was born on June 6, 1943, in Lowell, to Lionel and Rita (LaCourse) Lamy. He was raised in Groton and attended Groton schools. He enlisted in the Army in 1965 and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. 

He worked for McGarvin Engineering in Lowell for over 50 years. He was a dedicated employee and was treated as a member of the Skinner family from “Big Bob” down. 

In 1978, Leo became a member of the Pepperell Fire Department, Engine Company 1. He proudly served the town for 29 years, retiring as a Lieutenant. Leo enjoyed working on cars and was proud to have restored his ’66 Mustang alongside his buddy, Dana. He also found pleasure in attending his grandsons’ soccer games and his granddaughter’s dance recitals. 

Leo is predeceased by his parents, Lionel and Rita Lamy, his brother Andrew and his wife Priscilla, and his brother Robert and his wife Jean. In addition to his wife, Jane, of 56 years, Leo leaves behind two children, Cynthia Phelps and her husband John of Shirley, and Brian Lamy and his wife Colleen of Shirley. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Abigail Phelps, Caleb Lamy and Brody Lamy. 

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, August 6th from 4 - 7 pm in the McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St., Pepperell, MA. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, August 7th at 10 am at Blessed Trinity Parish - St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 N Main St., Westford, MA. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford.
