Lillian (Clapp) Alcott

d. Oct 31, 2026

Groton, Massachusetts

Lillian (Clapp) Alcott, 93, a lifelong resident of Groton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2026.

Born in Ayer, Massachusetts, to the late George Clapp and Mae (McCann) Clapp, Lillian lived a life rooted in family, community, and caring for others. She had a warm smile, a generous heart, and a way of making everyone around her feel welcome.

For more than 40 years, Lillian proudly drove a school bus for the Groton Dunstable Public Schools. Known affectionately to generations of students as "Mrs. A.," she greeted children each morning with a smile and took great pride in making sure they arrived safely to and from school. Over four decades, she became much more than a bus driver; she became a familiar, comforting presence and a fond childhood memory for countless Groton families.

Beyond her dedication to her family and community, Lillian shared a love of travel with her husband, Ronald. Together they explored destinations around the world, creating lasting memories on many overseas adventures. They also looked forward each year to spending the winter months in Arizona, a place that brought them both great happiness.

In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Ronald Alcott; her son, Mark Alcott of Rindge, New Hampshire; and her daughter-in-law, Sandra (Daggett) Alcott of Groton, Massachusetts.

She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Brown of Townsend, Massachusetts; her children, Brian Alcott of Groton, Massachusetts, Rhonda Dutton of Berkley, Massachusetts, and Brenda Alcott of Ayer, Massachusetts; eight cherished grandchildren; six adored great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family was at the center of Lillian's life. Her home was where everyone naturally gathered, a place filled with conversation, laughter, and love. Whether it was a holiday, a family dinner, or simply an ordinary afternoon, she made every person who walked through her door feel like they belonged. She had a gift for bringing people together, and some of her family's most treasured memories were made within the walls of the home she so lovingly shared.

Lillian was a constant source of love, comfort, and encouragement, always happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved most. She celebrated every milestone, treasured every visit, and found her greatest joy in watching her family grow.

Whether people knew her as Lillian, Mom, Mimi, or simply "Mrs. A.," she had a remarkable way of making everyone feel at home. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the community she faithfully served, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.
