Malvern Hill Palmer III

Malvern Hill Palmer III, better known to those who knew him as Hill Palmer, passed away suddenly at the age 68 on October 25, 2022. He was surrounded by close family as he passed. He was the son of Samuel Arringtion Palmer Jr. and Jean L. (Woodson) Palmer. Hill leaves two children, a daughter Lydia E. Palmer, Ashby, MA and a son, Malvern H. Palmer IV, Ashby, MA, his former wife and best friend of 31 years, Barbara A. Thorpe, Ashby, MA, his older sister Suzanne T. Palmer, Florida, and two brothers, Samuel A. Palmer III, Groton, MA and Colonel James T. Palmer, Washington, as well as one niece and four nephews.

Hill was born in Alexandria, Virginia but grew up in Acton, MA and was a graduate of Acton-Boxborough High School. He was a Senior Sales Executive with Versatile Communications and loved what he did for work. Hill had a long career working for such businesses as Digital, NEC, Hewlett Packard, Clarion, and Excelis. He was well-respected in his profession and had numerous colleagues and friends.

Hill was a loving father who loved to be around his children and share in their accomplishments and day to day lives. Music was another great passion for Hill, he was an avid guitar player and played his guitars daily. He shared his love of guitars with his daughter and was never happier than when they could play guitar together. He had a wonderful talent for building stone walls and had recently worked with his son to build a couple of stone walls.

Hill will always be remembered for his wit, light heart, and quirky personality. He was a sensitive, kind, and loving man and he will be missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, Main Street, Ashby, MA 01431.
