Mary E. (Miller) Seely, 92, a resident of Westminster, MA, passed on Saturday, March 14 of Congestive Heart Failure and COPD at Keystone Nursing Center hospice care in Leominster, MA.
The daughter of the late Minister Arthur J. Miller, and Idaline (Rodgers) Miller, she was born on June 30, 1922 in Rimersburg, PA. She was raised primarily in Rimersburg and Davidsville, PA. She is preceeded in death by her late husband, Warren A. Seely of State College, PA. She is survived by her son, David L. Seely, of Westminster; and nieces, nephews and many loving friends in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Jersey.
She attended Lebanon Valley College (Class of 1945) in Annville, PA. In addition to studying the classics and Latin, her studies concentrated on Biology and Chemistry. After Lebanon Valley College she worked at the Hershey Hospital in Hershey, PA, where, through a mutual friend who also worked at the hospital, she met her future husband. After their marriage she moved with him to State College, PA, where she was a direct Research Assistant to Dr. John Frear, Ph.D., the founder of Frear Laboratories at the Pennsylvania State University.
An avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching football, hockey, basketball and her all-time-favorite, baseball, on television.
She had a wry sense of humor, a great deal of compassion, a wonderful smile and twinkle in her eye, and was a generous and loving mother and wife. She was a friend to many and will be missed by those whose lives she touched.
