Michael Joseph Mastergeorge, age 76, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center following an eight-year battle with cancer. Michael was born in Middletown, CT on November 14, 1948, son of the late Dominic and Margaret Mary (Powers) Mastergeorge.
Michael spent his early life in Middletown, CT. He attended St. John’s Catholic school and went on to attend Middletown High School, graduating in 1966. He was a three-sport athlete but excelled especially at football and baseball. As quarterback, Michael held the Connecticut state record for most touchdown passes in a single game (6) until the record was broken in 2006. He was later inducted into the Middletown Sports Hall of Fame.
Michael went on to attend Wesleyan, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics. He married his beloved wife of 55 years, Roslyn (Nanfito), and the couple settled in Pepperell.
Michael worked as a retail store manager, ending his career with TJX. His work brought him throughout the New England region on a daily basis, yet he always made sure he was home for those important family moments, whether it was coaching little league or making it to a football game. He will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Family came first in everything that he did.
In addition to his wife, Roslyn Nanfito Mastergeorge, Michael is survived by his sons, Michael Mastergeorge and wife Jennifer of Amherst, NH; Christopher Mastergeorge and wife Mandy Morgan of Norristown, PA; and Robert Connelly of Essex, CT and wife Maureen; grandchildren John, Eliza, Caroline, Isabella, Ian, Devon, Lila, Kaitlynn, Ivy, and Chrislyn. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret Mary Webster “Bunny” of Middletown, CT and Michele Edison of Arizona. He is also survived by friends Judy and Dan Lillis and Robert and Doris ‘Dot’ Gagnon of Pepperell, and Dave and Deb Horlacher of Westford, MA. Michael rejoins his close friend Peter “Uncle Pete” Loffredo of Middletown, CT.
