Peter D. TenBroeck, Sr. passed away peacefully at the Hunt Community in Nashua, NH on September 1, 2023. He was born on August 23, 1936, the youngest of 3 children to Lorraine and Stanton J. TenBroeck, Jr. and was raised and educated in Newton Centre, MA.

After graduating high school, Peter attended the Darrow School in New Lebanon, NY and later became a successful Stock Broker for the majority of his working career. He retired in 1989 as a Trust Officer for Bay Banks, Inc.

In 1962, Peter married his beloved Suzanne Parris of Needham, MA. They resided in Framingham, MA for 40 years where they raised their two children. In 2005, they moved to Summerfield of Amherst, NH so they could spend more time with their children and five grandchildren.

Peter was an active Rotarian for 60 years. In addition to attending his weekly meetings at his home clubs, Peter enjoyed visiting new clubs when traveling out of town. He visited clubs in Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Africa, England, Hawaii, and many other US states. During the Pandemic and his time at the Hunt, Peter attended rotary meetings via Zoom with the assistance of Suzy.

On July 12, 2023, 40 members of his Milford, NH Rotary club brought the meeting to him and joined by his family, the club honored Peter with a 60-year service and perfect attendance award plaque. The celebration was front-page news in the local New Hampshire newspaper.

Peter lived his life by the motto of Rotary “Service above Self.” He loved to volunteer and help others. While in Framingham, Peter was an elected Town Meeting member and served on the Finance committee for many years as a member and chairman. Peter also enjoyed helping the Salvation Army by serving at local soup kitchens. Peter was a kind and compassionate man who loved people. He enjoyed meeting new people standing at a check-out line or anywhere people gathered. After his retirement he used those skills to become a hospice volunteer for many years.

Peter was very strong in his faith and attended St. Andrew’s Church in Framingham and later the Church of our Savior in Milford, NH. Peter was an active parishioner and volunteered on a variety of church committees and also served as Sr. Warden and Eucharistic Minister for both churches.

Peter was known as the “guy with the pants” as he enjoyed wearing seasonal and holiday themed pants that always made people smile.

Peter and Suzy spent many years entertaining and welcoming many families and friends at their seasonal home in Fryeburg, ME overlooking “The Million Dollar View.”

Peter is survived by his wife of 61 years, Suzanne (Parris), his son P. Derek TenBroeck, Jr. (wife Erin), daughter Christina Sulmonetti (husband Mike), his five grandchildren Tyler TenBroeck (wife Christine), Michael Sulmonetti Jr., Molly TenBroeck (fiancé Drew Tarantino), Jason Sulmonetti, Christopher TenBroeck, great-granddaughter Makayla TenBroeck and other beloved family members and many friends.
