Raymond Duff Patrick Hurley passed away, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lowell on July 31, 1946, son of the late Raymond and Eileen (Cryan) Hurley. In his earlier years, he resided in Dracut but spent most of his life in Pepperell.
Ray was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Middlesex Community College with an Associates Degree in Sociology. While at Middlesex he enjoyed participating in many theatrical productions. He later continued his studies at the University of Lowell graduating with a Bachelor of Arts.
Ray was an active member of the V.F.W. Post #3291 for 26 years, where he held many offices and positions. He enjoyed horse shoes and was a member of the horse shoe team. He loved being outdoors and camping. He enjoyed long road trips to "no place in particular".
He leaves behind Marilyn Deering and Karryann Deering Hurley of Pepperell, a sister Maureen Hurley, a nephew James Hurley of Lowell, a sister Mary Eileen Serwinski and niece Laurie Serwinski of Nevada, Las Vegas.
