Obituary

Robert A Trotter, 88, of Pepperell passed away in hospice care at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts on May 19, 2026 after a brief illness.

He was born on May 2, 1938 in Lynn, MA. He was the son of Robert G. Trotter and Valda C. (Berry) Trotter, both deceased.

He was the brother of David (deceased) Trotter and his sister-in law Cleo Trotter of New Ipswich, NH and Donald A. Trotter and his wife Kathy of Kent Island, Maryland.

He had 9 nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews, and 3 great-great nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Pepperell High School class of 1955.

Bob was an Army Veteran serving 4 years mostly in Germany as a communications specialist. After his military service he worked for New England Bell and NYNEX retiring at age 52. He worked part time after retirement for the Pepperell Cemetery as a caretaker.

He was a long-time member of St. Paul's Masonic Lodge in Ayer, Massachusetts and a member of the Scottish Rite Shriners.

Bob had a love of history. He was one of the founding members of the Warren Hand Tub restoration which was built in 1860. They restored the Warren and started competing in Firemen’s musters throughout the northeast during the 60's and 70's winning several league championships. He was very involved in the building of the home of the Warren on Lawrence Street in Pepperell which houses several antique handtubs now.

In the early 60's Bob decided to get into a new rising sport of Go Kart racing. He built several Karts and their engines for racing which he had his brother Don drive. They traveled all over the northeast competing in races for several years prior to his military service.

Bob had a passion for antique cars, most early Fords. He restored a 1940's Midget Race Car which was his pride and joy until about 20 yeas ago when he obtained a 1933 full fendered Ford Coupe hotrod. He would attend the annual Hershey, PA Antique Auto Club of American meet each year with a vendor booth with his younger brother Don. This was something he looked forward to where he would have 4 days with his nephews and brother.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 10:30am at the Pepperell Cemetery, 8 Park Street, Pepperell, MA 01463.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Warren Veterans Firemen's Association in care of Milton Blood, 5 High Street, Pepperell, MA 01463
