Sheila Anne Mitchell

Sheila Anne Mitchell passed away peacefully at Lahey Clinic on June 17, 2025, surrounded by friends and held in the love of those who knew her. Born on March 21, 1955, in Manhattan, NY, she was the cherished daughter of the late George and Helen Mitchell.

Sheila was a woman of deep and abiding faith, whose life reflected her belief in the spirit of Jesus Christ. She held her church families—both past and present—close to her heart, always ready with a prayer, a song, or a word of encouragement. Her spiritual devotion was matched by her warmth and unwavering support for others.

She attended La Cañada High School in California and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Irvine. Throughout her life, Sheila found joy in serving others, whether through her work, her music, or her ministry. She was an active member of her church choir and served faithfully on the church’s accessibility project, a mission that resulted in the installation of a much-needed elevator.

Since 2018, Sheila worked at the Groton Inn, where her kindness and genuine spirit left a lasting impression on guests and coworkers alike.

One of Sheila’s favorite stories was the moment a young Bobby Kennedy reached down from a truck to shake her hand while she was on her way to the Monterey Pop Festival. It was a memory she held dear—a symbol of her unique journey and the special moments that marked her life.

A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held at Union Congregational Church in Groton, MA, on September 11, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., with a reception to follow. All who knew and loved Sheila are warmly invited to attend.

Sheila’s legacy of faith, music, kindness, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
