Susan (McGrath) Brennan

It is with great sadness that the family of Susan Brennan (née McGrath) announces her passing on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the age of 75.

Sue was warm, funny, thoughtful, strong, and genuine. She made time for her family and friends, listened intently, and was never afraid to offer her honest opinion. Her presence was something those around her could always count on.

Sue was born on May 2, 1951, in Concord, MA, where she spent her early childhood before her family relocated to Acton. She was a graduate of Acton-Boxborough High School.

In 1968, Sue married Mike Brennan, beginning a marriage that would span 57 years and a life filled with family, adventure, friendship, and love. The early years of their marriage were spent abroad in Holland before they returned home to raise their family in Acton. They later settled in Pepperell and for over 40 years created lasting friendships and built a life together.

After raising her daughters, Sue began a career at NEBS in Groton while also returning to school at Northeastern University. She went on to enjoy a long and successful career at NEBS as a Purchasing Manager, where she formed friendships that lasted well beyond her years in the workplace. She later worked at Sunovion Pharmaceuticals before retiring, giving her more time to devote to the people, animals, and causes she loved most, especially her family.

Sue had a lifelong passion for horseback riding, a love that began in childhood and remained an important part of her life well into adulthood. She treasured her trail rides and the countless hours she spent at the barn with her beloved horse, Maverick. Sue also enjoyed the theater, traveling, the first Saturday in May, and, of course, the Patriots!

In retirement, Sue generously gave her time to PACH Outreach, reflecting her commitment to helping others and giving back to her community.

Above all, Sue was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and confidante. Her family was the center of her world, and she took enormous pride in the lives of those she loved. She celebrated their accomplishments, stood beside them through difficult times, and gave them a love they could always depend upon. She was the person you could call, the person who would listen, and the person who would tell you what she truly thought.

Sue is survived by her husband, Michael Brennan; her daughters, Michele Brennan of Charlestown, MA, and Stacey Conroy and her husband, Matt, of Belmont, MA; and her two cherished granddaughters, Ainsley and Zoe. She is also survived by her brother, Michael McGrath, and his wife, Tammy, of Leland, NC; her extended family, including Ginny Doherty of Concord, NH; Dennis and Jean Brennan of Sanford, ME; and Tom and Katie Brennan of Hudson, MA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sue’s life was defined not only by the people she loved, but by the way she loved them – with loyalty, humor, strength, generosity, and an unwavering heart. She gave people her time, her attention, her honesty, and, most of all, her love. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories – hosting family gatherings, travel adventures, horses, books, and life-long friendships. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
