Walter H. York, CWO3, was born on January 6, 1937, in Greenville, Maine, son of Howard Elwin York and Constance (Smith) York. On April 2, 2014, he passed into eternal life. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1956 and joined the U.S. Army in 1958. During his military career he was stationed in Korea, Germany, the Marshall Islands and served in the Vietnam War. He was also stationed at military bases around the United States and retired from his military career in 1984.
He was an active member of the Pepperell Christian Fellowship.
His wife of 54 years, Francis (Phillips) York, predeceased him. Survivors are his son, Douglas York and three sisters, Lois Smith, Karen York, Kay Johnson and brother-in-law, Ralph Johnson.
A celebration of Walter's life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, April 26, at the Pepperell Christian Fellowship, 17 Main Street, Pepperell, MA. A committal service will be in the summer.
