Wayne Lee Vickrey, 72, of Pepperell
Wayne Lee Vickrey, age 72, of Pepperell, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, surrounded by love.
Born on January 22, 1954, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he was the son of the late Lee and Barbara (Bridenstine) Vickrey. Wayne lived a life rooted in love, strength, and devotion to family. He was a steady and caring presence to all who knew him and took great pride in being a father, grandfather, great‑grandfather, and friend.
Above all else, Wayne cherished his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer A. Vickrey and her fiancé, Vinny Healey, of Gardner, Massachusetts, and Melissa M. (Vickrey) Aubin and her husband, Jesse, of Pepperell, Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Jacob Spencer, Megan (Melanson) Begin and her husband Curtis, Andrew Griest, Vincent Aubin, and Joel Aubin; two great‑grandsons, Caleb and Eli Begin; a sister, Lynda (Vickrey) Johnson and her husband Greg, of Noble, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years, Christina M. (Sacramone) Vickrey, as well as his brother, Glen Vickrey, and sister, Debbie (Vickrey) Canfield.
Wayne believed in an honest day’s work and spent much of his life working as a machine operator. He had a natural ability to fix, build, and improve things and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, sense of humor, generosity, strong work ethic, love of fixing things, and storytelling. Whether through his guidance, kindness, or simply being there when it mattered most, Wayne left a lasting mark on the lives he touched.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Home Health & Hospice team, especially his nurse, Mike, for their compassion and exceptional care during Wayne’s final days.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18th at McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main Street, Pepperell, Massachusetts. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19th at the funeral home.
