Obituary

Wendy Dugas (Haskins Whyte)

Born September 12, 1941, in Malden, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026.

Wendy was the beloved daughter of the late John and Doris Whyte.

She spent much of her life near the water—a place that brought her great joy. From her early years by the lake to later life with her late husband, Robert Dugas, in Alton Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee, and twelve memorable years living on a houseboat on Lemon Bay in Englewood, Florida, Wendy found happiness in the sun and the sea. She loved walking the beaches, collecting shark teeth and shells, kayaking, and encountering wildlife such as manatees and dolphins.

Wendy was talented with a needle and thread and lovingly created many quilts and blankets for her family, especially for her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nonnie.” She lived a modest and thoughtful life, valuing experiences and relationships over material things. She also had a deep love for animals, as well as caring for her houseplants and gardens.

A devoted Catholic, Wendy dedicated much of her time in retirement to volunteering in her community. She enjoyed socializing, dancing, singing, and gathering with loved ones for a happy hour with wine and cheese. Even in her later years, as she battled dementia, Nonnie could still recall every word to her favorite songs—bringing joy to those around her.

Wendy is reunited in heaven with her daughter, Christie Nauman; her husband, Robert Dugas; her sister, Diane Mahoney; her son-in-law, David Murphy; and her loving parents.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Bruce Haskins and his wife, Elizabeth; her daughter, Lorraine Murphy; her stepchildren, Mark Dugas and Sarah Lees and their families; her sister, Roberta Perdue; her brother, Jack Whyte and his wife, Ginny; as well as many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Honoring her wishes, Wendy will be reunited with her beloved husband, with her ashes placed at the Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Englewood, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Assocation.

Arrangements are entrusted to the McGaffigan Family
