William “Bill” O. Farnsworth, 86
William “Bill” O. Farnsworth, 86, of Pepperell, MA, passed away Sunday, May 10, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Newmaire) Farnsworth and a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Joanne (Newmaire) Farnsworth; his children and their spouses: Kelly (Farnsworth) Lorenzen and Paul Lorenzen of Ashby, MA; William J. Farnsworth and Charlene Miller of Ayer, MA; Maribeth (Farnsworth) Higgins and Mark Higgins of Maynard, MA; and James Farnsworth of Fitchburg, MA. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Ben, Sean, Tommy, Peter, Nick, Emily, Sterling, Maddy, Nick, Shane, and Isaiah; and his treasured great-grandchildren: Fiona, Peyton, Reid, JD, Liam, Grace, Chase, Bradon, Cailin, and Nora.
He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and William Farnsworth of Pepperell, MA; and his siblings, Polly Levesque of Oregon, Norman Farnsworth of Nashua, NH, Donna Thomas of Milford, NH, and Joe Farnsworth of Texas. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Bill worked for many years as a manager at New England Business Services and later served as General Manager at IBA (Independent Buyers Association). He was also well known in the community for his years of service as manager and bartender at the American Legion in Hudson, as well as manager of the VFW in Pepperell. Through his work and friendships, he touched the lives of countless people.
In his free time, Bill enjoyed woodworking, gardening, making beer, wine and apple cider. Above all else, he was a kind and loving husband and father who treasured time with his family. He was known for his warm heart, generous spirit, and his ability to tell a good story that could make everyone around him smile.
Bill’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Visiting hours will be held in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Wednesday, May 27th from 4 - 7 pm. Bill's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace worshiping at St. Joseph Church, 28 Tarbell St., Pepperell, MA on Thursday, May 28th at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Pepperell Fire Department.
