Connie Jane (Clements) Brown

Connie Jane (Clements) Brown of Groton, MA died peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 19, 2020 where she resided for 46 years before succumbing to Alzheimer's disease. She will be deeply missed.

Connie was born October 23, 1945 in Tawas City, MI, the daughter of the late Laurence and Gertrude (Bessey) Clements. She was the youngest of 3 girls, and 7th out of 10 children in her family. She attended Michigan State University. Connie will be remembered for her warmth and generosity, her tireless support of her family and friends, and was known throughout the community for her gifts; a talented crafter, quilt maker, singer, and baker that she openly and lovingly shared. She even wielded a hammer and assisted with the construction of the house that she and Bob built together.

Connie was a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Brown of 54 years of marriage, with their four children; Stephanie Wild (Ben) of Boston, Christopher Brown (Viola-Anne) of Lunenburg, Stacey Streeter (Paul) of Merrimack, NH, and Alison Brown (Eric) of Amesbury, and 8 Grandchildren; Connor, Norah, Emerson, Weston, Tabitha, Charlize, Trent and Flynn. It filled her with joy that her family lived close by, and she cherished every opportunity to be with her grandchildren. Connie took a particular delight in the details of each holiday, making it special and unique for her family. Everything from the decorations to the beautifully wrapped packages and intricate bows. She strived to create lasting holiday memories for her family.

Connie befriended almost everyone that she came in contact with. While raising 4 children, she assisted with childcare services for several teachers. As the children grew, she went to work for an Archeological company, and then settled in with a position at Groton School, and worked her way up to Head Registrar before retiring after 19 years.

Connie was involved in many community activities in addition to her full time work. She was an active member of the Union Congregational Church, where she helped to lift people's spirits by singing and being a member of the Bell Choir. She also volunteered for several committees on the Church Board starting in the 1980s and continued over the years (Buildings and Grounds, Children's Christmas Pageant, Christian Education Committee). Clever and crafty, she helped to organize craft and bake sales, both that she personally contributed handmade items to.In the Fall, she would also volunteer for the Groton Community Christmas Choir where she both sang and participated in the bell choir for many years.
