Dorothy May (Bliss) Babcock

Dorothy May "Dolly," "Dottie," "Mimi" (Bliss) Babcock passed away peacefully on April 29, 2023, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents, siblings, and beloved husband, Charles Gregory "Greg" Babcock.

Dottie was born on May 16, 1935 in Shirley, Massachusetts and graduated from Ayer High School. She married the love of her life, Greg, in 1957, and was blessed with three beautiful children: Debbie, Greg, and Darlene. Dottie was a longtime resident of West Groton, Massachusetts, where she devoted her time to being a loving wife and mother, a caring friend and neighbor, and an ever-present member of the St. James Parish community.

Spending time with family was the guiding principle central to Dottie's life. She enjoyed hosting holidays for her children and grandchildren, vacationing at York Beach, Maine, and lunching with family and friends at oceanfront restaurants across New England.

Dottie is survived by her daughter Debbie and her husband Ed Kelly of Townsend, Massachusetts, her son Greg and his wife Debbie Babcock of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, and her daughter Darlene and her husband Bob Hazel of Harvard, Massachusetts. She is survived by seven grandchildren: Katie (Kelly) Gerrior, Sarah Kelly, Courtney Kelly, Amy (Babcock) Collins, Greg Babcock, Jennifer (Hazel) Dowling, and Bobby Hazel. Dottie is also survived by her brother, Allen Bliss, and five great-grandchildren.

Dottie will be deeply missed— her warm smile, infectious laugh, and gentle disposition were felt by all who knew her. Dottie's kindness, love, and spirit will live on forever in our hearts.

Dottie's family will receive family and friends at calling hours from 4 – 7 pm on Thursday, May 4th at the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main Street (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA.
