Dorothy A. (Dow) Crocker, wife of the late Ralph F. Crocker and a lifelong resident of Pepperell, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Apple Valley Center in Ayer, MA at the age of 87.
The daughter of the late Harry and Emma (LeBlanc) Dow, Dorothy was born in Pepperell on March 15, 1936. She was raised in Pepperell and graduated from Pepperell High School in 1954.
Dorothy worked at the former Gowdin’s Store in downtown Pepperell and also at Pepperell Braiding Company from where she retired.
She enjoyed candlepin bowling and was a longtime member of the Pepperell Women’s Bowling League from 1965 to 2009. On weekends, she enjoyed going to the local short track to watch stock car racing. She also enjoyed watching the Red Sox and NASCAR racing as well.
She is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Kelli Crocker of Pepperell, MA, daughter Cynthia and husband David Richard of Manchester, NH and her stepson Lee and wife Carolyn (deceased) Crocker of Ashburnham, MA. She is also survived by granddaughter Rebecca Crocker of Ashburnham, MA, seven great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband Ralph, Dorothy was predeceased by her sister Carol and husband Fred Sherburne of Hampton, NH, grandson Eric Crocker of Ashburnham, MA and her beloved calico cat, Princess, who was her loyal companion following Ralph’s passing.
Visiting hours will be held in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St., (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Sunday, April 2nd from 2 – 5 p.m. Dorothy’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Parish worshiping at St. Joseph’s Church, 28 Tarbell St., Pepperell, MA on Monday, April 3rd at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Pepperell.
