Edward T. Gillogly, Sr.

Edward T. Gillogly, Sr., 83, a lifelong resident of Pepperell, passed away peacefully Monday, April 12, 2021 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, MA after a period of declining health. Mr. Gillogly, or “Ed” as he was affectionately known, was born in Pepperell on June 6, 1937, the son of James P. Gillogly, Jr. and Pearl (Gillogly) Blood.

Ed attended the local schools in Pepperell and was employed by Hollingsworth and Vose, Groton, MA for over 30 years. Following his retirement, he continued to work at Green Meadow Country Club, Hudson, NH for 10 years.

During his youth, Ed boxed in the Lowell Sun Golden Gloves. He also raced cars at local tracks in MA and NH. Ed had a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed fly tying as his hobby. He enjoyed all things New England sports and was happy to discuss the latest headlines with all who would listen.

Above all, family and friends meant most to Ed. He could be heard loud and clear at all of his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was their #1 fan. The Mayor of Independence Road, Ed would always give a wave to his neighbors and check in on their children. Community was everything.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, S. Judith Gillogly of Pepperell. He is also survived by daughters Sharon Gillogly of Charlotte, NC and Donna Gillogly of Holden, MA. He was predeceased by his son, Edward T. Gillogly, Jr. Ed was the proud grandfather of Ryan (Nicole) Gillogly, Mya Mosley, and Marcus Mosley. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours in the McGaffigan Family Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Friday, April 16 from 6 – 8 PM.
