Everett Murray Heald

Everett Murray Heald, 87, of Lunenburg, MA passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2023 following a three year battle with dementia.

He was born on November 26, 1935 in Concord, MA to the late Everett V. and Margaret L. Heald. He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Bates) Heald, whom was the love of his life for over 40 years.

Murray grew up in Carlisle, MA and was a graduate of Concord High School, where he enjoyed playing sports like baseball, football, and hockey. At the age of 16 he took a job at the Carlisle Screw Company which led to a career in metal cutting and machine tooling. Murray was the senior manufacturing engineer at Omni-Spectra MA-Com in Merrimack, NH for the majority of his career. At the age of 24 he was introduced to the game of golf and without the benefit of a single lesson, he became a 7 handicap. He found his passion and was hooked for life. Around 38 he decided to start regripping clubs for himself and friends, which led him to starting his own business. He had a shop out of his home in Littleton, MA and also worked at Stow Acres Country Club for 40 years! Murray was designated as a Class A Clubmaker by the Professional Clubmakers Society based out of KY. That was a huge honor to him because all his business was word of mouth. He was still fixing a few sets a year into his early 80's!

Murray met his bride Mary on a blind date and fell in love with her instantly. They married and raised three children together in Littleton, MA. A cool fact, in 1987 he won megabucks to the delight of our handicapped beagle that needed an expensive surgery because you know back then that wasn't happening...

Murray was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Ayer. He humbly received the Chevrus award from the Archdiocese of Boston in 2015 for all his selfless work he did for St. Mary's.

Murray was the devoted father of Paul Heald (Nancy) of Lunenburg, Gary Heald (Nancy) of Granville, and Jennifer White (Brian) of Lunenburg. He was the cherished papa of Sean McGrath, Sierra Heppler, Amanda, Brianna, Casey, Anita, and Chase White, John and Ellen Mack. He will be deeply missed by his three sisters, Cynthia Brown of CA, Martha Coughenour of Nicholasville, KY and Susan Smith (Will) of Pepperell, MA, his sister-in-law Jeanette Deyoung and brothers-in-law John and Paul Bates of Cape Breton. He is survived by countless nieces and nephews from here to California to the shores of Nova Scotia that he adored and that loved him.

Murrays greatest joys in life were his family and friends. He adored his grandchildren, was proud of them all and was a constant presence in their lives. Went to every sporting event they played in any chance he could. He was a man of great faith, generous, kind and loving to all. He always had great advice to share or an ear to just listen. He was known for his quick wit and never lost it. The world was a better place with him in it. He will be missed by many for years to come.

He has been released from his broken body and mind, is now alive and fully cognizant again in heaven with Jesus and all whom he loved that went before him.

His family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at The Manor on the Hill for the daily care and love they provided him for the last three years. Forever grateful to the friends that visited him until his last breath...
