Frank E. Thompson

Frank “Frankie” Thompson died after a short illness due to complications from COVID-19 on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the age of 75.

Frank was born on April 4, 1945 in Waltham to Ernest and Florence (Toombs) Thompson. He resided in Townsend for the past 20 years with his beloved wife Kathy (Huber) Thompson.

Frank grew up in Waltham. After high school, Frank joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He was grateful to be able to see much of the world during his time in the military. Following his service, he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and eventually moved to Westford to start his own business. Thompson Truck Repair was where he worked and socialized with his many customers who were also great friends. Later in his career he worked as the maintenance supervisor for the Westford Highway Department. He was also a member of The American Legion Post 159 in Westford. After his retirement, he managed and maintained the Rail Trail Crossing properties in Pepperell. Frank was very well liked and respected by all who knew him.

Frank enjoyed spending time with his family. Whenever you saw Frank, his wife, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren weren’t far behind. They enjoyed numerous family vacations, dinners and backyard bonfires, always with cold Miller High Life. Frank’s greatest joy was being a Bampy. He loved spending time with his four grandchildren cheering them on in school, sports and life. Frank was a modern day MacGyver and our go-to guy for everything. He will be missed immensely.

Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathy; daughter Tracey Razzaboni and her husband Wayne of Pepperell; daughter Nicole Perrault and her husband CSM Jim Perrault of Ashburnham. He is also survived by his four cherished grandchildren, Mia and Nico Razzaboni and Travis and Jillian Perrault as well as his grandpuppies Daisy and Molly.

He also leaves behind his sisters Beverly Peirce, Gail Landino and husband Dick, Sherry Thompson all of Billerica, Jackie Izzi and husband Eddie of Vermont, and brothers Bill Thompson and wife Cathy of Sudbury, Steven Thompson and wife Cheryl of Framingham, brother-in-law Ed Lavelle of Westford as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Butchie Thompson and sister Patty Lavelle.

Due to COVID-19 and his family’s concerns for the well being of family and friends, services will be held privately. A celebration of Frank’s life will be planned for late spring.
