SERVICE UPDATE - DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, JIM'S FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 26TH AT 1 P.M. AT THE COMMUNITY CHURCH OF PEPPERELL, 3 TOWNSEND ST. PEPPERELL, MA. INTERMENT CENTRAL CEMETERY, DUNSTABLE. VISITING HOURS WILL PROCEED AS SCHEDULED ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH FROM 4 TO 7 P.M. IN THE MCGAFFIGAN FUNERAL HOME, 37 MAIN ST. (RTE. 113) PEPPERELL, MA.

James E. “Jim” Farmer, 70, passed unexpectedly on February 16, 2022.

He was born April 13, 1951 a lifelong resident of Pepperell, the youngest child of Robert L.W. and Ethel M. (Tully) Farmer.

Cherished father of Heidi Buser and her husband John of Melrose and James Farmer Jr. and his wife Katie of Pepperell. Loving grandfather to Grace Buser, Emily Castle, and Joseph Castle. Devoted brother to Robert Farmer and wife Karin of Marlborough and Fredrick Farmer of Pepperell. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Dorothy Farmer, Maureen Farmer and brother in-law Martin Holmes as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother George Farmer and sister Elizabeth Holmes.

After graduation from North Middlesex High School, Jim worked as a skilled carpenter building houses. For 40 years he was employed at Hollingsworth & Vose in Groton in various roles.  He was proud to be certified in wastewater treatment.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed leading his son’s Boy Scout troop, traveling all over New England enjoying county fairs especially the Fryeburg Fair. In retirement he enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, honey bees, farm animals and antiquing. Jim’s biggest passion was spending time with his family, grandchildren and sneaking cookies to the grand dogs.

Relatives and friends are invited to Jim’s visitation on Thursday, February 24, 2022, from 4 - 7 p.m. at McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main Street (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 26th at 1 p.m. at the Community Church of Pepperell, 3 Townsend Street, Pepperell. Social distancing and masks will be required in the church. Interment will follow at Central Cemetery, Dunstable, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Future Farmers of America (FFA) Lexington, MA Branch, PO Box 68960, Indianapolis, IN 46268-0960 ( www.ffa.org ) or the Pepperell Fire Department Association, PO Box 464, Pepperell, MA 01463.
