James D. LaValley

James D. LaValley of West Groton, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25th, 2022. He joins his predeceased wife of 57 years, Veronica (Orlando) LaValley, and beloved younger sister Janet Melendy and is survived by 2 brothers John and Joseph LaValley and his younger sister Judy Horton.



Son of Francis and Theresa (Stebbins) LaValley, Jim worked 39 years in the paper industry and was a lifelong resident of West Groton. Jim was a proud family man, dog lover and outspoken Republican.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor and generous spirit.



‘Big Papa’ as he was referred to by those closest to him is survived by his two sons Mark and Brian LaValley and Mark’s wife, Jim’s beloved daughter in-law whom loved like his own, Sandra LaValley, all of West Groton. He also leaves behind two granddaughters Stephanie LaValley of Groton and Candice Greene and her husband Drew Greene of Halifax, MA and his cherished great-grandsons who always brought a smile to his face, Tyler Greene and Jackson ‘James’ Greene also of Halifax, MA.

Visiting hours will be held in the McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Tuesday, August 2nd from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Fathers House Inc., PO Box 7251, Fitchburg, MA 01420 ( www.ofhshelter.com )
