John Peter "Pete" Back

John Peter “Pete” Back, resident of Pepperell, MA, passed away on November 2, 2021, aged 75 years. Beloved husband of 45 years to Cynthia (Jackson) Back. He was the son of the late John C. and Marjorie (Peters) Back.

Born in Beverly, MA, and raised in Hamilton, MA, Peter served his country in the US Army and dedicated 35 years of his life to education as a high school automotive teacher. He was a gifted educator, devoting himself to continuously learning new automotive repair technologies and patiently transferring his knowledge to young students, graduating hundreds into the industry over the years. He spent the bulk of his teaching years at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School where he also coached the golf and tennis teams.

As a lover of all things sports, Pete was an avid golfer, tennis player, youth soccer and baseball coach. When he wasn’t coaching or playing, he enjoyed cheering on all Boston sports teams, and was especially passionate about the Patriots as a season ticket holder for over 25 years.

A dedicated father of four and proud grandfather of ten, Pete was happiest spending time with family and friends. Family vacations to the beach or ski slopes were some of his fondest memories.

Always warm and friendly, Pete will be most remembered as hard worker that would give you the shirt off his back. He also had an incredible gift of easily conversing with others, connecting in a natural, lighthearted manner, endearing himself to all he met.

He is survived by daughter Kristin Mollo and her husband David, and their sons Aaron, Will, and Luke; daughter Alanna Nardone and her husband Chris, and their children Jocelyn, Tyler, and Lila; daughter Mandy Brisebois and her husband Brian and their children Alivia Shattuck, Emma Shattuck, and Chase Brisebois; and son Clifton Back and his wife Allison, and their daughter Maisie. He is also survived by his niece Melissa (Back) McGrail.

Visiting hours will be held in the McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113) Pepperell, MA on Sunday, November 7th, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday's funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pete’s memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168 ( www.dana-farber.org ).
